The UK's capital needs no introduction but we're delighted to be working with fantastic partners...
Southbank Centre’s Festival of the World with MasterCard opens on 1 June 2012 and closes on 9 September 2012. As London welcomes the world this summer, hundreds of international artists will converge on Southbank Centre’s 21-acre riverside site to take part.
Festival of the World includes inspirational projects from the UK and around the world that showcase the power of the arts to change the lives of individuals, communities and whole societies. The site will be transformed with art installations including a luminous cityscape inspired by a Columbian community’s unique response to waste; two giant sculptural figures scaling the back of the Hayward Gallery; A Call to Poetry, a sound installation celebrating poetry from around the world; and Rainbow Park by Adam Kalinowski, which will transform Queen’s Walk into a multi-coloured beach (opening 15 June). Southbank Centre is one of the largest arts centres in the world, occupying a 21-acre site in the midst of London’s most vibrant cultural quarter on the South Bank of the Thames. The site consists of the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall (containing the Purcell Room), and the Saison Poetry Library.
Southbank Centre offers a wide-ranging artistic programme including classical & world music, rock & pop, jazz, dance, literature and the visual arts. Every year more than 1,000 musicians and artists perform at Southbank Centre, and 22 million visitors come to site, making it one of the most popular cultural destinations in the country.
